Thank you for a wonderful school year. I have enjoyed every minute of this year, as this year’s class was filled with creative, loving, and exceptional students. A majority of this year’s success is because of the effort and assistance provided at home, so thank you for the guidance and assistance you provided your child throughout the school year.
As the school year comes to a close, summer is a wonderful time to continue reading and reinforcing learned concepts from this past year. Practice at home will keep your child on the right track and better prepare him/her for the demand of third grade. Wherever I go this summer I plan to take a book with me to keep reading, so this is what I challenge your child to do. Wherever he/she goes this summer, get them to bring a book and read when offered the chance. Discuss with your child the book and ask questions about the text! Next week a summer packet will come home with websites, ideas, and tips to use throughout the summer!
Poetry Coffeehouse
Just a reminder this next Tuesday, June 6 is our 2nd Grade Poetry Coffeehouse. The coffeehouse will take place from 9:30-10:30. Small refreshments will be provided. I am asking all parents to bring in one of their favorite poems to read to the group of poets. Your child will share his or her poem aloud and then I will ask the parent to stand up and share his/her poem aloud. Afterwards, your child will share the poetry book with you and enjoy your company till 10:30. Please RSVP to inform me if you will be attending next Tuesday!
All of the students’ materials will be coming home next Tuesday and Wednesday. Please send them with an empty bookbag on Tuesday and Wednesday to hold all of their materials.
All homework ends this week! Just keep them reading!
